We want to express how thankful we are for the overwhelming support we have received this past year since starting up our practice. We wouldn’t be where we are today without each of you and we wish each of you a very Happy Thanksgiving!

While everyone’s recipes may vary, many of the main dishes served on Thanksgiving remain the same. Learn which ones are especially good for your oral health and how to take better care of your teeth year-long!

Thanksgiving Foods That Are Good For Your Family’s Dental Health

1. Turkey

The main dish that sits on (just about) every dining table on Thanksgiving plays a huge role in your teeth’s health. In fact, did you know that turkey helps rebuild enamel that is eroded by bacteria?

2. Cranberries

And when we say cranberries, we mean the kind that isn’t loaded with lots of sugar for added sweetness! ;) This tart, seasonal fruit is full of flavnoid which helps keep bacteria from sticking to your teeth. Plus, they’re an anti-inflammatory rich with Vitamin C.

3. Green Beans

Steamed green beans are preferred over a green bean casserole (though not always in taste!). Green beans, or legumes, are a great source of magnesium which is needed in order for your body to absorb calcium.

4. Sweet Potatoes

Sweet potatoes are packed with Vitamin A. This helps the body produce saliva and helps prevent dry mouth.

5. Pumpkin Pie

The good news is that pumpkin is a good source of Vitamin A. The down side is that it’s full of sugar to sweeten it up. We suggest saving room for a slice of pie to eat shortly after dinner because your saliva production is higher and it helps wash away the leftover food sitting on your teeth.
