Time is critical! First, find the tooth and hold it by the crown (the top part), not the root. Gently rinse it with water if it's dirty, but do not scrub it. If possible, try to reinsert the tooth into the socket and have your child bite down on gauze. If you can’t reinsert it, place the tooth in a small container of milk or the child's own saliva.
